How do I get money? from graphic design?

Posted on May 1st, 2008 By house interior designs

Im 16 years old and i do graphic design, I have a website & all that and I design with paint shop pro, and sometimes photoshop. A lot of people like my work but I mostly do it for free, like free resources on my site & myspace things. Umm, designed banners website layouts & stuff

Does anyone know how i can get money from this at my age and at my skills. Im not a professional, but do have some skills. First, due to your age, find out if you will need a work permit. If you are going to accept money for your design services, you will need either a business license or seller's permit. Then, get started by registering on freelance websites that are geared toward creative professionals, such as design.allgraphicdesignn.com/jobs.

I will forewarn you, graphic design is a competitive field, and you will be up against people with the full Adobe Creative Suite, a design degree, and years of experience. It'll be tough for you to get work. Your best bet is to keep practicing, doing what you're already doing, and start preparing now for a career in graphic design.

If you'd like more links to the top sites freelance graphic artists use, or if you'd like information on choosing the right graphic design school for you, email me anytime. I recommend trying to start out by making simple stuff such as album and mixtape covers for artists/bands. In the hip-hop side of things, we got mixtapes coming by the 'truckloads' and anyone with skills in making a good mixtape cover can make like $50 easily for just the front cover. I'd like to see some of your work though to really give you a proper suggestion. Maybe you could do some work for me, if you want.

I make beats (not to brag) that could be sold for 5 grand easily but I don't. I just promote myself as that kid (I'm 15 btw) that's got mad skills. Just start out easy and get your name out there, show the world what you have to offer. Pretty soon things will come into sync and the money will come in if you're serious about it... theoretically anyways lol. there are freelance websites that pay you by the job. just do searches for freelance pay or something. I'm not sure if there are age requirements. so you could do it under your mom's name or something?
