Graphic design and drawing illustrations?
Posted on May 1st, 2008 By graphic design training
I'm interested in the field of art and I see that many places offer graphic designer jobs.
I've also heard that some graphic design careers allow you to illustrate things by hand.
Is this true? If I like to draw characters, and other random things, by hand, is a graphic design job a good way to go?
Are there any advertising/marketing jobs that need people who have a creative illustrating ability? If there is, what is this type of career called?
Please help.
Yeah of course lol 90% of Graphic Designs start from an illustration free hand or an identical trace of another work or photograph. Whether its for the general design or for the final artwork, you definitely are going to be drawing a fair bit, than finishing your design on the computer than pre-press & print. If you are creative and have a strong skill for illustrating than Graphic Design is great. I start my full time 2 year Diploma in Graphic Art next year when I finish school, I have done a few courses where they explain exactly whats involved and get you to do some tasks and artworks, drawing and on the computer.. I cant wait to start! lol A Graphic Designer is everything to do with Advertising & Marketing, every logo, poster, product packages, adverts, magazines, cd/dvd covers etc.. its all work done by Graphic Designers.. Its a great and fun industry, and you work on something new all the time. Good luck!!
(Are there any advertising/marketing jobs that need people who have a creative illustrating ability? ) Thats what advertising is, it's everywhere, every label, bilboard, cup, everything. I am not in graphic design as of yet but I do know that if you are creative and you can draw, and you like to draw, then go for it. But make sure your 100% sure and serious about it before you dish out all that money because its expensive.
Advertising is the biggest field that uses graphic design, go for it, long live your creative spirit!
