I'm going off to uni in September and I want to get a coupld of good books to help me while I'm there. I've already got Vitamin Ph and Art Photography Now to help with the Photography side of things and I was just wondering if anyone could reccommend equivalent books for Graphic Design. Or really any contemporary Graphics books. Thanks for the help. Here is a link to a list of the most highly recommended and best-selling graphic design books: hxxp://design.youthedesignern.com/2007/12/10... Making and Breaking the Grid
Letterhead and Logo Design 9
Best of Business Card Design 6
1000 Graphic Elements
Design it Yourself

Also check out certain books about designers, I have a bunch of stuff on Paul Rand, including the big blue book titled Paul Rand. He was a very influential designer in a broad range of design work.

Some good magazines to check out:
How Design Magazine (they have lots of design competitions with professionals and students)
Communication Arts Magazine (also have lots of competitions)
And just for fun, Clear Magazine--very edgy and modern design in different aspects including architecture and fashion The Photoshop WOW book is awesome it tells you all the tips and tricks on how to use the software. Also any of the Adobe Classroom in a book are a good resource for learning the programs from scratch.
