How much do I charge for contracted graphic design work as a student?

I am a 2nd year student in a graphic design program and was just contacted by a company to do some photoshop work. They want me to tell them my hourly rate. I have three years experience with photoshop, but I have no clue what to charge. Please help!!
The suggestion of $50 per hour is insane. I can hire a 10-year Photoshop veteran for that kind of money.
I would quote a rate of $20, which is enough so they know you're not a pushover but not so much they'd shop it elsewhere.
$50 an hour, if you're freelance.
$15 if they want you to come in
I'd say $40 and let them talk you down so they think they are getting a deal.
You have to remember, close to HALF of what you earn doing freelance will be taken out by taxes because you are "self employed", and they are not paying for any sort of health benefits. So these companies are getting a very good deal!
Also, hang on to those supply reciepts that you can perhaps deduct on your tax forms.
